Let your kids dive into the world of computer technology this summer at Camp Katy Computer Camp. We are celebrating our 4th year of camp in Katy, TX. Whether it's your first time at our camp or you are coming back for more, there is always something new at Camp Katy Computer Camp.
The favorites are back and we have added options for Mini Camps, Lab Weeks and weekly field trips.
Camp Katy Computer camp is less than 50% of the cost of other local computer camps and extremely economical compared to other Katy academic camps. We also offer a non-academic camp for $135 per week.
Courses:
First Person Shooter (FPS) Creator
Create your own First Person Shooter (FPS) game. We brainstorm, layout the levels, then start designing. Campers will beta test each other’s games and then learn how to debug. Advanced students will learn how to add music, customize menus, and scripting. Every student goes home with a full game of their own to play over and over again. Your student won’t soon forget this class. It is a fantastic experience start to finish. Yes, you can take it more than once! (Ages: 10-17)
MMO Game Creation
Suggested for all RPG junkies! Design your own Multiplayer Role-playing game. Design, create characters, design quests, dungeons and more. Best of all it’s multiplayer. Do you like World of Warcraft, EverQuest, or Runescape? Well you will love this class. It’s time to make your own world for you and your friends to conquer.
RPG Game Design
Create your own point and click RPG this summer! Campers will layout their levels, create their stories, characters and more. This is a perfect course for our younger campers who want to create their own world to play in.
3D Modeling
Ever wonder what it takes to make your favorite game characters? Camp Katy teach you how to create your own characters from scratch. Using leading industry tools, you will learn to model and animate your creations. This advanced course is perfect for budding game designers and animators.
Make your Own Movie
Want to know how the professionals do it? Campers will dive into the life of a film maker. We will take you through the exciting journey of scriptwriting, storyboarding, casting, sets, shooting the movie, editing your movie and even producing your own custom DVD, cover and movie trailer. This 2 week adventure will take you through the film making process from start to finish. Your movie will even be shown at The Alamo Drafthouse theater at our special premier night. You will have a chance to invite your family, friends and fans to watch your movie on the big screen. This will be a team effort and will reinforce social skills and give campers a huge sense of accomplishment. How many of your friends can say they've made their own movie? (Ages: 12-17)
Junior Film Maker
Our young film makers will choose their script, assign roles, shoot their movie and learn the editing process. This is a great fit for campers who are interested in the process but don’t have the skills yet towork on their own or with more advanced programs and equipment. (Ages 8-11)
Web Design
Looking for a course for your creative camper? Students will build their own personal website from scratch. Learn design layout, utilizing templates, Flash buttons and menus, importing/editing graphics, domain registration, uploading to the web and more! Camp Katy teaches with industry leading software Dreamweaver CS4 and Photoshop CS4.
Comic Book Creation
KABOOM! Insert an explosion or crash at the thrilling climax of a traditional comic made with your scanned artwork, or use fight sound effects in comics made from screenshots of your favorite PC video game. Included in the class: 1GB Flash Drive, Comic creation software, & One full color print or their finished comic. (Ages: 8+)
Computer Building
You may know how to use a computer but can you build one? We will learn how to build a computer, install/optimize Windows XP & Vista, computer maintenance, basic hardware and software troubleshooting, and networking. Campers will complete projects which include removing spyware, installing antivirus and removing viruses, Windows installation and updates, troubleshooting common computer ailments, and setting up a home network
World of Warcraft (WOW) Insider
Whether you already play WOW or just starting out this class will take you from noob to guru. Learn how to get the most from your account and how to spend more time having fun and less time farming items and gold. (Ages: 9-17) Only 15 spots available.
Games, Games, Games
The name says it all. Campers will have access to many age appropriate games to play till their hands go numb. The awesome thing about games at camp is you can play against your friends. A multiple computer station will be setup so kids can play head to head. This class is offered every week of summer camp subject to availability - only 15 spots per week).
